Meet the University of Nottingham team

Dr Catherine Gripton 

Cath Gripton is an Assistant Professor and co-director of the Observatory for Mathematical Education at the University of Nottingham. She is a specialist in early childhood mathematics (birth to 8 years). Her research seeks to further understanding of policy and practice in mathematics for young children. She designs, leads and evaluates professional development materials for practitioners in early mathematics.

Dr Marie Joubert

Marie Joubert is a researcher in mathematics education, and is a member of the Observatory for Mathematical Education in the School of Education. Her interests particularly focus on professional development for teachers of mathematics and the use of manipulatives, representations and digital technologies in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Before moving into research, she had a successful 20-year career in teaching.

Professor Shaaron Ainsworth

Shaaron Ainsworth is Professor of Learning Sciences and Director of the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Nottingham. Her research interests are concerned with the development and evaluation of psychological theories of teaching and learning – broadly falling into the area of learning sciences.

Corrine Robinson

Corrine Robinson is a member of the Observatory for Mathematical Education in the School of Education. She is the senior operations office for Counting Collections.
